Loftia Guide

Is Loftia an MMO? Solo Play, Servers and Playing With Friends

Updated · Launch & Platforms

Quick answer

Yes — Loftia is an always-online MMO (no offline mode). You share Loftia City with other players, link your floating island into a neighborhood, team up for Adventures and pool resources on World Projects. But it's built to be solo-friendly: the developers say playing alone doesn't block progress and almost all content can be done solo. You're not locked to one server.

How the multiplayer works

Part What it means
Loftia City Shared hub — you see other players everywhere (NPCs, shops, minigames)
Your island & house Your own floating island; decorate, farm, set guest permissions
Neighborhoods Islands link up with other players’ into a shared neighborhood
Adventures Group puzzles and gauntlets on Adventure islands (Ryder’s Airship in Early Access)
World Projects Everyone contributes resources to shared builds — unlocks new resources, stories and islands (demo: Pebble’s birthday party; Early Access: rebuild the City Dome)
Community Farms Shared, fast-paced farming with friendly leaderboards (Early Access)
Social Hangout spots, emotes and social minigames; a House Showcase to vote on houses

Servers

Loftia vs. Palia and Heartopia

All three are cozy online life sims. What sets Loftia apart, from the official info: it’s buy-to-play with a cosmetics-only shop (price), the theme is solarpunk sustainability (renewable energy, upcycling, endangered-fish repopulation), and the shared World Projects push the whole server’s story forward.

FAQ

Can you play Loftia solo?

Yes. The developers say playing solo doesn't block progress and almost all content is accessible alone — group Adventures and World Projects are optional extras.

Can you play Loftia offline?

No. It's always online on every platform, even when you play alone.

How many players can be in a group?

There's no official party size yet. One German preview mentions 3–10 players for group content, but the developers haven't confirmed it.

Can strangers mess up my island?

Your house and island have guest permissions — check them early (beginner guides recommend this). Planting in Loftia City was public; the shared Garden Beds there were removed during the demo.
